City Centre, Parks and Bay
Setting off from a city centre location, you’ll ride on cycle paths to Cardiff’s grand Edwardian civic centre, past the third Marquess of Bute’s statue overlooking the castle he rebuilt in gothic style and through Bute Park with its famous arboretum. You’ll follow the river past the Principality Stadium and through the city’s wetlands to the old Tiger Bay – the site of the docks which made the city rich. You’ll pass the Senedd (the Welsh Parliament) and make a pit-stop at the Norwegian Church, built by visiting sailors. You’ll head back to the city centre, with its beautiful Victorian arcades, home of the world’s oldest record shop. En route, we’ll sample a Welsh cake from the old city jail, now home of the indoor market.

Mark and Beccy
What our customers say

Think you know Cardiff? Well, think again as Mark helps you explore its nooks and crannies with knowledge, wit, insight, and a Welsh cake or two. Don't know Cardiff? Well, Mark will shine a spotlight on the most interesting bits. Need to know: yes, there are breaks built in; no, you don't need to be a fast or even particularly fit cyclist; yes, Mark's jokes are expertly crafted; no, you don't have to laugh at them, but just try not to. Thoroughly recommended.

This bike tour is what all bike tours should aspire to be. The bicycles are quality and they provided a rain poncho in case of bad weather. It's the UK, there is likely to be rain. We saw all the best spots in Cardiff, had breaks where Mark would explain things and give us interesting stories, and he will rearrange the order if needed (like for a bathroom break!). He also provided us with Welsh Cakes, which were delicious! But the real highlight of this tour is Mark himself. He is a former BBC journalist and accordingly, knows so much and has done extensive research so that he has a book of pictures and photos to provide even better context of the places you are seeing. For example, he had a picture of the exact spot at Bute Park we visited from the past so we could see what it would have looked like back then. We've been on a number of bike tours but this one is easily one of the best. Also, this is a great day trip if you are staying in London. We took a 9:30 train from Paddington, arrived in time for lunch and had our bike tour from 2-5. We had dinner and then took a 6pm train back to London. A long day, but absolutely memorable. Thank you Ding Cardiff Cycle Tours for a great day!

What a great idea, a cycle tour of Cardiff! The knowledge of the local guides was excellent and it made for really enjoyable and fun day out. The cycling was easy, the bikes were comfortable and well maintained. The route we took was well thought out and included much new and interesting information. Can't recommend this trip highly enough. If you want to explore Cardiff or just want a great way to spend a few hours, then give Ding cycle tours a go!

Had a wonderful time on the guided cycle tour of Cardiff and learnt lots about Cardiff's history including; the Marquess of Bute, Cardiff Docklands, Civic Centre, Coal Exchange, Cardiff Castle and the statue of Betty Campbell. We cycled through Bute Park, Alexandra Gardens, along the River Taff past the Principality Stadium and through to Hamadryad Park and Cardiff Wetlands. The tour guides Mark and Beccy were really friendly and knew lots about the history of Cardiff. You will also get to stop at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre for a coffee and cycle past the Senedd. This tour is a must for people visiting Cardiff and also great for locals who wish to learn about the history of Cardiff.

Beccy and Mark were amazing guides for our Three Castles tour. After getting set up on our bikes, we started the tour with a quick stop at Cardiff Castle to get a brief overview of its history. Next we headed north out of town along the Taff River and its eponymous trail. Unfortunately, Castell Coch was closed for refurbishment so we only stopped to view it from a distance. However, that gave us time to tour the Nantgarw China Works and its fascinating history. Next up was a pub lunch and pint of ale while overlooking 13th Castle Caerphilly. As one who grew up playing Dungeons and Dragons as a teenager in the US, this was my first experience touring a real castle and I was blown away. Even my teenage daughter who thinks D&D is a game for nerds was quite impressed. The leisurely pace and gentle slope of our north-bound journey belied how much we had been climbing. However, that became evident once we turned south and made it back to Cardiff with barely turning a pedal stroke. Overall, I would highly recommend this trip for anyone who is visiting Cardiff and would like to explore beyond the city limits.

All four of us really enjoyed our bike tour of Cardiff, Mark and Becky were very knowledgeable, informative and engaging guides. The bikes were comfortable and easy to ride. The route was pleasant, enjoyable and covered everything we wanted to see. Very competitively priced. We would highly recommend the bike tour to all Cardiff visitors.

Would highly recommend. Took a parks and cathedral tour with Mark and Beccy, who were informative and friendly. Explored some well known and not so well known landmarks of Cardiff, ranging from the castle to the hidden slums and a nuclear bunker! Although the weather God's were not always smiling, the ponchos kept us mostly dry. The cycling was easy going and suitable for all. Looking forward to booking a trip to the bay on our next visit to Cardiff.

An easy-going bike ride to appreciate Cardiff. I am a local resident who was surprised to learn how much I had overlooked significant landmarks. The tour was nicely paced with a variety of places - from medieval to the millennium. The cycling itself wasn’t at all strenuous as we followed scenic and flat trails on comfortable bikes. Mae’n amser i ddysgu am Gaerdydd!

Amazing tour. Mark and Beccy are fantastic guides, very knowledgable, and took good care of us. We learned so much during our bike ride. The tour covered all of the sites we expected to see and more. Enough time to observe and talk about the history of each place. I highly recommend it. Great and a fun tour.

have been a Cardiff resident for 14 years and this tour unearthed local sights that I didn’t even knew existed. The guides were knowledgeable and entertaining, anecdotes as often as the revolutions. The bikes were well maintained, the pace gentle, chat was emphasised over speed. 14km were covered during the 3 hour tour with a coffee stop close to the Norwegian church the perfect opportunity to chat with your fellow tourists. It was a well planned and brilliantly executed afternoon and if you are local or international you could do a lot worse then spend a few hours with Team Ding.

Mark and Becky’s bicycle tour of Cardiff is a must for anyone wanting a great geographical, historical and social overview of this city. Bikes were really comfortable, easy to ride and well maintained. And you get a great conversation to boot!! Well done Mark and Becky, you made our stay very memorable.
